As most wonderful things, Wingate Candles began with a dream.

One autumn night some years ago, founder, Shay Wingate, dreamt of molding the world's best candle. 

Its clean-burning wax and fine essential oils would be poured into elegant glassware, contain super-premium cotton wick and maintain the strongest scent throw of most any candle around.

The very next day, Mr. Wingate began on his quest to create that dream candle - refining his recipe first with family and friends, and, once perfected, selling them throughout his North Carolina homeland. 

Wingate Candles was born, and people were pleased with the company that "makes perfect scents".

But Wingate didn't stop there. 

Recognizing that people have differing tastes, Mr. Wingate added a level of customization to his ever-expanding line of products that most of the candle-making world wouldn't dare: the now famous "Design It Yourself" Candle.
